Amish Country Cheese Festival, Arthur

Free cheese, cheese curling contests, the cheese eating nationals! This Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 1st through Monday the 3rd, check out the 35th Annual Amish Country Cheese Festival in Arthur. This free street festival looks like a great time.

I used to spend the 4th of July in Arthur because the fireworks were spectacular, best outside Chicago. The fall is a great time to visit Amish country because of all the wonderful gourds you can buy for fall decorating (and fall eating). Oh! And you can visit Paul Schrock's used Amish buggy lot.

Make a country weekend of it and go to both the Amish Cheese Festival and the Old Time Fiddle Contest at Rockome Gardens.
